Freeman was born in Camden,Kevin Bieksa, New Jersey, and played football at the University of Pittsburgh. He was a fourth-round draft pick by the Green Bay Packers in 1987 but wound up signing with the Steelers and playing for them from 1987 to 1990. He then spent a season with the Giants before retiring from the NFL.
